Purposed To Belong
What does it truly mean to belong to something? Not just showing up, not just being a card-carrying member, but genuinely, deeply belonging? In Acts 2:42-47, we find a portrait of the early church that is both convicting and inspiring. These believers were not casually affiliated with one another. They were described as continuing steadfastly, a word that carries the weight of full devotion, even addiction, to the things of God. They gathered around the apostles' teaching, around fellowship, around the breaking of bread, and around prayer. And the result was a community so alive, so genuine, and so Spirit-filled that God Himself kept adding people to it daily. This message calls us to examine whether we are truly belonging or simply attending. There is a profound difference between occupying a seat and being woven into the fabric of a living, breathing body of believers. The early church challenges us to ask ourselves whether we crave the Word of God the way we crave the things that sustain our physical lives, and whether we are as devoted to our spiritual community as we are to the routines and comforts of everyday life.
